Investec's timing could not be worse - but Epsom can still be optimistic

It is something of an understatement to say that when it comes to the ideal time to be looking for a new sponsor for one of your sporting crown jewels, during a pandemic and economic recession would be bottom of the list.

However, that is the situation the Jockey Club finds itself in as it seeks to secure a partner for the Derby festival at Epsom.

The economic landscape could not be much tougher, but there are reasons to be optimistic about the Jockey Club's prospects of finding a suitably blue-chip backer.
