Three runners at Goodwood proving popular with punters
Here are three horses proving popular with punters on day two of Glorious Goodwood.
11-4 (from 10-3)
A high-class staying hurdler, rated 164 at his peak, Lil Rockerfeller looks notably well handicapped on his return to the Flat from a mark of just 82. This trip of 2m4½f poses a stern test but Lil Rockerfeller, who finished runner-up in the 2017 Stayers' Hurdle, has stamina in abundance and a teak-tough attitude that has endeared him to racing fans. Drying ground will suit, the booking of champion jockey Silvestre de Sousa is an obvious positive and it is little surprise that he has proved so popular.
Beat The Bank(3.35)
11-2 (from 7)
Could be ready to make a Group 1 breakthroughin the Sussex Stakes after winning the Summer Mile at Ascot last time. The four-year-old has taken a bit of time to return to peak form following impressive victories in a Group 3 at this meeting and the Group 2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket last year but everything looks in place for a big run and his odds have shortened accordingly. He won by three lengths on his only start here12 months ago and is proven at the trip.
11-4 (from 7-2)
The Queen Anne Stakes-winning combination ofEve Johnson Houghton and Charlie Bishop could be celebrating victory at a big meeting again if the market is any guide. The Shamardal filly has taken over favouritism for the 1m1½f fillies' handicap with most firms as she returns to the scene of her Listed victory over the same distance in May. She beat only two horses home on her all-weather debut in a Group 3 at Newcastle last time but punters are expecting her to resume her progression on the return to turf.
