Tonight's racing: three worth watching on the all-weather at Newcastle
There's action at Wincanton, Warwick and Wolverhampton today but if you're still looking for winners, Newcastle's card offers seven races for redemption. Here's three it could pay to follow at the track . . .
Nature Boy (6.15)
David O'Meara's famed for the vast improvement he can eke out of horses that come from other yards and in new recruit Nature Boy he has a prime candidate.
Three starts for Peter Chapple-Hyam and then three for Robyn Brisland have resulted in a mark of 67, the sort of mark you would assume O'Meara feels is exploitable otherwise he wouldn't have taken the horse on.
He sneaks in to this 0-65 so has a class edge based on what he has done so far – and with the added potential of the O'Meara factor it will be interesting to see how he gets on.
Harmonica (6.45)
Harmonica appeared to do something very unusual for a Mark Prescott horse last time in completely blowing a very favourable mark in one fell swoop.
On her reappearance at Lingfield she won a handicap by five lengths under 7lb claimer Gavin Ashton and she looks sure to be reassessed fairly heavily, but, typically for a Prescott horse, she has been found another opportunity where she escapes any sort of penalty because that was an apprentice race.
She lines up here off 73 – the exact same mark she made mince meat of on Friday and she looks a filly worth watching.
Sketching (7.45)
Fountain Of Time, Sketching and Playfull Spirit met 12 days ago in a novice contest at Lingfield and while Charlie Appleby's runner came out on top that day, there is reason to believe Jamie Osborne's third-placed finisher can reverse the form.
Principally because she is on 10lb better terms for a two and a quarter-length beating, but also because she did not enjoy as smooth a passage through the race and with more luck in-running would likely have finished closer.
