Three horses to look out for during tonight's racing
It's a big night at Leopardstown, but it is not a pedestrian evening in Britain either, with a couple of Group 1 tracks providing the evening action. Here are three runners particularly worthy of attention.
A few of the runners in this fillies' nursery have already been sent on a mission to gain black type.
Miss Bar Beach was less than four lengths away from making the cut in the Albany Stakes, where she finished ninth behind the runaway front duo of Different League and Alpha Centauri.
A mark of 88 has her giving all but a stone or more to her rivals, but more important is the impression left of a filly who might just be a little better than handicaps.
There is probably a little sentiment at play in the build-up to the Meld Stakes and that is something you cannot begrudge The Grey Gatsby, so likeable has he been down the years.
Hard-nosed punters know how much more likely a winner Deauville is this evening. Even his defeats this year, post-Dubai, look good. He lost out to Ulysses at Sandown and has been third in Group 1s on his last two starts.
Getting placed in the Queen Anne last time will have put any doubts over his suitability to 1m1f to bed and he could be in line to do something a bit special this evening.8.20 Doncaster
If nothing else, First Voyage owes his jockey one. Eight days ago, he threw off William Buick leaving the stalls at Yarmouth.
He had been favourite that day on the back of an encouraging display at Haydock the time before, when he seemed to not quite see out the extended 1m3f trip.
Ten furlongs on a fair track like Doncaster gives him a perfect opportunity to make amends, so long as he comes out of the gates okay this time.
