Three horses it could pay to follow at Chelmsford tonight

Archie Watson: trainer has made a big splash with his juveniles
1 of 1

There is just one fixture this evening with Chelmsford again putting on a valuable card with a total of £86,000 in prize-money up for grabs. Here we pick out three horses who could be taking home a share of the pot.

Fognini 6.15

Archie Watson has been a trainer to follow this season in juvenile contests, saddling an impressive 40 winners with his two-year-olds.

Fognini has been responsible for two of those and the colt could make it three as he switches back to the all-weather.

Before landing victories at Yarmouth and Redcar, he showed promise on his debut at Wolverhampton and holds leading claims despite carrying a 6lb penalty.

Moqarrab 7.15

Saeed Bin Suroor has a 34 per cent strike-rate (42-123) at Chelmsford and looks capable of enhancing that enviable record with this all-weather specialist.

The colt has won both his starts at Wolverhampton and returns following a break since finishing last at Newmarket in July.

Sporting cheekpieces for the first time, he has low mileage and should not be dismissed with the in-form Jim Crowley in the saddle.

Lyford 8.45

The Sylvester Kirk-trained three-year-old has been knocking on the door of late and can finally get off the mark at the 13th attempt.

Placed on four of his last five starts, he was just touched off at Kempton six days ago and looks a key player racing off the same mark in an open contest.
