'This is my strongest novice team but the weather's killing my well-laid plans'

Dan Skelton believes he has assembled his strongest team of novices - but he lamented the challenging weather conditions that are frustrating his plans to unleash them this week.

The yard had more big-race success last weekend thanks to a double at Warwick with Galia Des Liteaux in the Hampton Novices’ Chase and Grey Dawning in the Leamington Novices’ Hurdle, allied to the Lanzarote Hurdle success of West Balboa.

He was hoping to run more young horses this week but several fixtures have been lost or are at risk due to sub-zero temperatures. Lingfield's meeting on Friday was lost due to frozen ground, while Ascot's Clarence House meeting on Saturday is under threat.
