'There was no banned substance' says Kim Bailey as BHA fine attracts attention

Kim Bailey and his fellow trainer Oliver Greenall have sought to explain their use of feed supplements that resulted in recent disciplinary findings against them following a BHA hearing.

Cases involving horses based with the two men were fast-tracked by the BHA's judicial panel and dealt with by way of £1,000 fines last week, but have since caught the attention of racing fans on social media, who were concerned about some of the circumstances and pressing for further detail.

Bailey's Subway Surf was withdrawn by the stewards from a race at Ludlow in March after a BHA equine welfare and integrity officer (EWIO) noticed a substance around her mouth. That led to the discovery in Bailey's horsebox of two oral syringes containing a brown liquid, one of which had been used.
