'There is no income other than from media rights' - course message to horsemen

Pontefract managing director Norman Gundill on Monday responded to the latest call for courses to share media rights income with the sport's participants by pointing to the cost of staging racing behind closed doors.

New Horsemen's Group chairman Charlie Parker has asked courses to provide participants with a "fair and equitable share of the sport's income", while predecessor Philip Freedman has accused some tracks of regarding prize-money as "no more than a residual expense to be paid at their discretion."
