James Doyle

In the last five seasons no jockey has enjoyed more success over the July course than Doyle, whose 52 winners over the period put him well clear of his nearest rivals.

In 2017, Doyle enjoyed big-race success at the July meeting with both Cardsharp in the July Stakes and Hawkbill in the Princess of Wales's Stakes, while a similar double in 2015 saw Amazing Maria take the Falmouth Stakes and Birchwood win the Superlative Stakes.

With William Buick still sidelined with injury, Doyle looks set for another plum book of rides at the meeting – starting on Thursday – with the likes of Masar, Secret Advisor and Boosala all holding good chances.

Kerrin McEvoy

Buick's continued absence has seen Godolphin, and Charlie Appleby in particular, turn to the services of McEvoy and the Australian has delivered, installing himself as the second-best jockey on the July course this season.

Five winners from 17 rides at Newmarket since arriving in Britain for Royal Ascot last month have advertised the three-time Melbourne Cup-winning jockey's aptitude for riding the July course.

While Doyle will likely partner the lion's share of Appleby's first-string, McEvoy's course record this season will make him a popular choice with other connections – he is already set to ride the promising Hugo Palmer-trained Set Piece in the Sir Henry Cecil Stakes.

Harry Bentley

Limato's victory in the 2016 July Cup still rates as Bentley's finest day in the saddle, and this week the 27-year-old returns to a meeting and a course where he has enjoyed great success.

His 38 per cent strike-rate from just 13 rides over the track this season has yielded a level-stakes profit of £8.20 and has installed him as the second-best jockey over the course in the last five seasons – trailing only Doyle.

Bentley looks set renew his association with the now seven-year-old Limato in the July Cup and will, without question, be kept busy throughout the meeting as owners and trainers look to take advantage of the jockey's abilities on the track.

Ryan Moore

His links with Aidan O'Brien and Ballydoyle mean Moore's name has be mentioned when looking at the key jockeys prior to any major Flat meeting.

That said, Moore's enviable statistics over the July course more than warrant his inclusion on such a list. Alice Springs, Roly Poly and US Navy Flag have all succeeded in Group 1s at the July meeting with Moore in the saddle in recent years, while he has ridden three winners from eight rides at the track this season.

Ten Sovereigns, Pistoletto, I Can Fly and Mirage Dancer are just four big names that will likely enjoy the services of the three-time champion jockey this week.

Frankie Dettori

If his recent form is anything to go by Dettori looks set for another headline-making week at another marquee Flat meeting.

His 44 per cent strike-rate over the past two weeks is eye-watering, as is his career record over the July course where his 207 career winners put him put him 85 clear of his nearest rival Kieren Fallon.

He has ridden two of the last three winners of the July Stakes (Mehmas in 2016 and Advertise in 2018) and has exciting rides aboard Visinari and Raffle Prize to look forward to this week.
