The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips for Thursday afternoon

BANKER

(2.50 Sandown)

When William Haggas sends a well-bred three-year-old over staying trips off a lenient initial mark it is worth following them. Haggas, who is striking at 25 per cent in the last fortnight (10-40) and is 24-89 (27 per cent strike-rate, +£37.38 to £1 level stakes) with three-year-olds over this trip, seems to have had this race in mind for Space Walk for some time. A mark of 80 looks generous based on half-length score at Haydock last time (earned him an RPR of 87) and the extra two furlongs will be right up his street. The booking of Oisin Murphy is promising and he can continue his progression for his powerful connections.

EYECATCHER

(3.55 Sandown)

Another handicap debutante, Alandalos, who comes from a prolific family, looks likely to strike at the first time of asking in the sphere in the 0-75 contest later on the Sandown card. Charlie Hills' filly has run well behind smart sorts on his all three racecourse starts, which have been fairly spaced out suggesting she's needed time to come to herself. Her latest fourth behind Honest Albert is clearly the strongest piece of form in this race and provided she handles the step up in trip, which she should on pedigree, she is the one to beat under Jim Crowley.
