The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Friday afternoon
BANKER
Jamie Spencer is the master of sprint handicaps at Ascot and the fact he has been booked by David O'Meara aboard Arecibo is a tip in itself. The ex-French-trained four-year-old showed little for his new yard on his first three outings, but has improved since undergoing a gelding operation in May and his last two starts have been his best yet, recording form figures of 12. The victory came on his only start over the minimum trip for O'Meara, where he pounced late to deny the reopposing Harome, and just bumped into a course specialist over a furlong further last time. He's able to compete off 93, 4lb lower than his revised rating of 97 which hasn't come into play yet, and should go close granted a fast pace.
GOOD THING
It is rare that I tip in 0-60 hands and heels apprentice handicaps, but Suitcase 'N' Taxi, trained by the in-form Tim Easterby, is tough to ignore on his first run in this lowly grade. The Ontoawinner-owned five-year-old sprinter has been competitive off marks in the mid 70s over the last couple of seasons, which included a course-and-distance victory off a mark of 73 in June last year, but has really struggled this campaign and now runs off just 61. He has run much better the last twice, though, and off this basement mark back over a trip and track he enjoys, Suitcase 'N' Taxi should go well off the front from a decent draw in stall two.
