That's Rich: Riccis rejoin owners' ranks at Seven Barrows with Palixandre
The familiar pink and green-spotted silks of leading owners Rich and Susannah Ricci have joined the famous colours in the Seven Barrows tack room and could be carried in the coming weeks by Palixandre.
The Riccis, whose best horses include Cheltenham stars Vautour, Faugheen and Douvan, have been involved in a horse with Nicky Henderson before, although Newsworthy was owned in partnership with the champion trainer's longtime ally Michael Buckley.
The Riccis have taken sole ownership of Palixandre, a four-year-old son of Kapgarde who cost €100,000 at a sale for store horses last year.
Their racing manager Joe Chambers said on Sunday: "Rich and Susannah have previously had a horse in partnership with Nicky and having known each other for a number of years decided to purchase a store from the Derby sale last June.
"Nicky will probably start him off in a bumper some time in the next few weeks."
Among a clutch of promising youngsters at the yard, Palixandre earned a favourable comment in an autumn stable tour from Henderson, who described him as a "striking individual" who is "full of quality and ticks all the boxes".
