Kenzai Warrior and Starcat among worthy latecomers to Ten To Follow pool party
The new format for the Tote Ten To Follow, whereby teams already entered can be amended right up until deadline day means it is important to keep up with the daily action to ensure your final lists have the best possible chance of scooping the lion's share of the £100,000 pot.
And because of the delayed start to the season there are horses being added to the pool of possible selections if they impress, if they are nominated by the celebrities taking part in the competition or have entries for major races.
Into that category come Kenzai Warrior and Starcat, two unbeaten colts who line up for Saturday's 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket. Clearly, they are held in high regard by trainers Roger Teal and Hughie Morrison and may well perform better than their odds suggest.
Indeed Starcat was nominated by champion jockey Oisin Murphy when asked to list his top team of ten for the season even though he has not ridden the son of Lope De Vega in a race.
Others to enter the pool since the entry window opened include English King, who made such a huge impression in winning Friday's Lingfield Derby Trial and is now jostling for the favourite's slot in the Epsom Classic.
Among the Oaks contenders added is John Gosden-trained daughter of Frankel Frankly Darling who advertised her talents at Newcastle on the first day of the season with a five-length success.
The Queen's first winner of the season, First Receiver, is also now on the teamsheet after registering his maiden victory at Kempton on Tuesday for in-form trainer Sir Michael Stoute.
The entry window closes at 11am on Tuesday, June 16, a few hours before the first races in the competition take place at Royal Ascot, but players who enter early will be at an advantage as tied placings will be decided in order of date and time of entry.
In addition to the main competition there are four £10,000 monthly prizes from June-September and a free-to-enter game with a £5,000 top prize and monthly prizes of £1,000. The competition runs until Saturday, October 17, Champions Day.
Other game innovations for the Flat season include the ability to set up mini leagues between friends, and a 'pro mode' making it easier to create multiple stables.
