Teenage sensation Sam Ewing reflects on 'one of the best weekends of my life'

Sam Ewing has hailed his wonderful weekend in Wales as one of the best of his life after winning the Welsh Champion Hurdle on Effernock Fizz and the Native River Handicap Chase at Chepstow on the evergreen Peregrine Run.

The 18-year-old had just one ride at Chepstow on Saturday and travelled to Ffos Las for a single mount the following day, but won on both to complete a dream double.

Ewing has been touted as one of the most promising jockeys in Ireland and even got to ride the legendary Tiger Roll in a Flat race at Navan in 2020 when he was just 16. He is already starting to fulfil that potential and last weekend showed what he could do on the big stage.
