July Cup runner: Tasleet

Trainer: William Haggas

How long have you looked after your horse?
I joined Mr Haggas from Henry Candy about three years ago when Tasleet was a yearling and he was one of the first horses I looked after. I rode him out one day and asked if I could do him.

What's he like to look after?
Tasleet is a friendly horse and very straightforward. Sometimes I will take him out for a pick of grass in the afternoons and make sure he has plenty to drink as it's hot at the moment.

What progression has he made?
Tasleet was a very good two-year-old who won over seven furlongs in the Greenham Stakes when it was run at Chelmsford last year, but he doesn't really get a mile so the decision to drop him back to sprinting by the boss has paid off. He's only ever run one bad race and that was when he had a sore back leg. We now know he goes on any ground.

What chance does Tasleet have in Saturday's July Cup?
He was a bit unlucky in the Diamond Jubilee when he was bumped by Limato and I expect him to run better than that. We respect the chances of Caravaggio, but I expect Tasleet to like the track and run a big race. I wouldn't swap him.

What other horses do you look after?
I'm in for a busy week as I also look after Addeybb, who runs at Ascot on Friday. He should win after going well in a gallop I rode him in at the weekend. I also do Alshibaa, another three-year-old who won a handicap at Leicester last time, as well as the four-year-old filly Entsar, who is waiting for some soft ground.
