Tanasoq comes clear to land sprint for Midgley and Sullivan
It was a good day for the north at Epsom on Friday and Paul Midgley got in on the act when capturing his second Dash in four years with Tanasoq.
The winner, who was partnered by James Sullivan, was driven to the track by the trainer from his North Yorkshire base, so there was no thought of a celebratory glass of champagne, but he was certainly quenched by success.
The man who saddled Desert Law to victory in the race in 2015 said: "If you've got plenty of sprinters, which we have - and we're lucky enough to have some better ones now - you want to be down here running in the Dash.
"And if you're lucky enough to run in it, it's pretty special, but to win a Dash for the second time is unbelievable."
"The first time I don't think I we realised what we'd achieved. Everyone who has sprinters wants to win the Dash; everyone who has sprinters wants to be here. It's fantastic."
Clearly thrilled with the result, Midgley added: "He's in a race at Musselburgh next week, but he's had four quick runs and I don't want to abuse him because I think he'll go on to bigger and better things."
