Only Mine too hot to handle at Naas

The marvellously consistent Only Mine put up a career-best performance to win a competitive Yeomanstown Stud Dark Angel EBF Stakes.

Gary Carroll had the daughter of Pour Moi close to the pace throughout the race but when asking her she produced a turn of foot which took her clear of her rivals entering the final furlong to win eased down from Music Box.

Trainer Joe Murphy has the Haydock Sprint Cup in mind for her, a race in which she finished seventh last year, but she looks like a far better filly now and if the ground came up the soft side of good it would not be hard to see her playing more of a hand.

Murphy said: "That was very good. Gary said that when nothing was coming at her she was pulling herself up but she travelled so well and we think she's improving all of the time."

He added: "She'll probably go now to the Phoenix Sprint Stakes at the Curragh next month and then we'll think about the Haydock Sprint Cup. I love her to bits and she's really building a nice pedigree page for herself. Ground the easy side of good suits her well, she just doesn't want extremes of going."

Paddy Power cut the filly to 33-1 from 50-1 for the Haydock Group 1.
