Swiss out to land the cash with another all-weather victory
Sun Bets On The App Store Handicap | 7f, 4yo+ | ATR
Winning prize-money of £7,246 is not be sniffed at on a Monday afternoon but victory for Swiss Cross in this 7f handicap would be even more lucrative.
The veteran handicapper, who marked his 100th appearance with victory at Lingfield in November, has won four times during the all-weather campaign.
Trainer Phil McEntee said: "There's a £10,000 bonus for winning the most races during the all-weather season. It would be magnificent if he could scoop the prize at the age of ten.
"There are three or four others on four wins and we're keeping our foot on the gas to try to get a fifth."
Change of stable
Russian Soul has his first run for Jamie Osborne, having won ten of his 68 starts for Mick Halford. He scored in Group 3 company in Dubai three years ago and has earned more than £350,000 in prize-money.
Rematch for Newcastle pair
Nimr finished sixth and Shyron seventh in a £40,000 race last month at Newcastle, where both were unsuited by the slow early pace. There was three-quarters of a length between them at the line and they reoppose on the same terms.
What they say
George Scott, trainer of George Cinq
He was a real star for us last season but picked up an injury on his last run at Ascot. This is his first run back and, although I've been very pleased with his work at home, I'd expect him to come on for the run.
Richard Fahey, trainer of Nimr
We were a fraction disappointed with his last run but it was a bit of a messy race and we hope things pan out better this time. We're a bit unsure about his trip as he's bred to stay, but he has plenty of speed.
George Margarson, trainer of Shyron
He's back to a track that will suit him better than the last couple of times. It was a mess of a race at Newcastle last time but he was only beaten two and a half lengths when not a lot went right. He comes to himself at this time of year and has a good draw so we're expecting a big run.
Adam Ryan, son of and assistant to Kevin Ryan, trainer of Captain Dion
He's lightly raced for a four-year-old and he's progressive. He's gone up in the weights but there's more improvement in him. He has the pace for six furlongs but gets seven and should go close again.
George Baker, trainer of Joey's Destiny
He ran very well at Kempton, where they didn't quite go quick enough for him. Ideally he loves a fast pace to run at. His last two runs show he's in good form and and we head there full of hope.
Phil McEntee, trainer of Swiss Cross
He's in good form and was unlucky last time at Lingfield as he got checked in his run. He's up in grade but he's been running well all winter and has a low weight.
>>Lingfield has already been cancelled, and the only remaining jumps meeting on Monday, at Sedgefield, is subject to a 7.30am inspection due to the threat of overnight frost.
