Supreme winner Labaik withdrawn from Aintree sale

Labaik: aimed at the Grade 1 Herald Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown
1 of 1

Labaik, 25-1 winner of the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last month, will not be part of the Goffs UK sale at Aintree on Thursday.

The Gordon Elliott-trained six-year-old is to be aimed at the Grade 1 Herald Champion Novice Hurdle at the Punchestown festival on April 25.

Bloodstock agent Aidan 'Mouse' O'Ryan, part-owner of Labaik, said on Tuesday: "We have decided not to send Labaik to the sale, and Punchestown is now the plan."

Labaik, who has refused to race on a few occasions, was on his best behaviour at Cheltenham and landed the festival opener by two and a half lengths under Jack Kennedy. He provided the perfect start to the meeting for Elliott, who took the trainers' crown at the meeting on countback from Willie Mullins.
