Hot favourite Pinatubo remains on course for the Darley Dewhurst Stakes after the Godolphin juvenile was among the 11 names left in Saturday's Group 1 at the five-day stage on Monday.

The son of Shamardal's astounding nine-length success in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh last month earned him an official rating of 128 – a higher mark than the legendary Frankel achieved as a juvenile – and he is as short 1-3 with some firms to complete an unbeaten two-year-old campaign.

Aidan O'Brien's search for a seventh victory in the Dewhurst will be spearheaded by supplementary entry Wichita, who was added to the field on Monday after his impressive seven-length victory in the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes over course and distance last month.

The son of No Nay Never was entered as the general 4-1 second favourite upon his inclusion, and could be joined at Newmarket by as many as four of his Ballydoyle counterparts, namely Coventry Stakes winner Arizona, Harpocrates, Year Of The Tiger and Monarch Of Egypt.

The maximum field of 11 is completed by Iffraaz, Molatham, Mystery Power and the Clive Cox-trained Solario Stakes winner Positive.

The Willie Mullins-trained Buildmeupbuttercup is among the 39 remaining confirmations for the £500,000 Emirates Cesarewitch Stakes at the five-day stage.

The Ascot Stakes runner-up is as short as 5-1 to collect Saturday's heritage handicap, while stablemate Great White Shark, Timoshenko and Ranch Hand also stand their ground.

Cesarewitch Trial Handicap winner Land Of Oz is a best-priced 10-1 for the big race, but needs three horses to come out in order to make the final field.

The 34 runners, and two reserves, will be confirmed on Thursday.

An inch of rain fell at Newmarket on Sunday leading to the fresh strip of Rowley Mile ground set to be used over the Future Champions festival to ease to an official description of soft.

Speaking on Monday, clerk of the course Michael Prosser said: "Since Sunday we have been quite lucky and have missed any showers thus far, albeit we could see some light showers on Monday evening.

"That then sets the scene for the rest of the week which is dry interludes with the possibility of occasional rain or showers. It does looks as though we will be in the driest part of the country for the next six days.

"There is a chance of rain at any point this week but not necessarily of any major confidence. It will also be breezy throughout the week which could help dry the ground should we be fortunate enough to miss showers."
