Lack of a run this season no problem for Aneen - Prendergast
3.25 Curragh
Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas (Group 1) | 1m | 3yo fillies | ATR
A year ago Kevin Prendergast bridged a 40-year gap when Awtaad won him a second Irish 2,000 Guineas, and on Sunday he will be attempting to wind the clock back again when Awtaad's half-sister Aneen lines up for the Tattersalls 1,000 Guineas.
Prendergast has not landed the fillies' Classic since Arctique Royale gave him his second win in the race in 1981, and although Aneen has not raced this year he is expecting a big run from the daughter of Lawman.
He said of Chris Hayes's mount, who is around a 10-1 chance: "I don't think the lack of a run will be a problem for her. She was very unlucky not to win at Leopardstown on her debut last year before winning her maiden impressively at the Curragh."
Disappointing in the 1,000 Guineas, Intricately represents Joseph O'Brien, who said on Saturday: "She didn't fire at Newmarket for some reason. Nothing came to light and she's been in good form since.
"We know she likes the Curragh having won the Moyglare there last season, and the bit of rain they have had should help, although we wouldn't want a lot more of it."
Jim Bolger, successful with Finsceal Beo in 2007 and with Pleascach two years ago, is represented by Bean Feasa, who landed the Group 3 1,000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on her most recent start three weeks ago.
