Standing in the paddock before his Sun Chariot last hurrah, Jimmy Fortune had his whip tucked under his left arm as he quietly gesticulated with his hands while chatting with connections of Nathra.

His final set of orders and the last time he would take one steadily to post prior to that adrenaline kick-in when the stalls crash open. A Group 1 finale for a Group 1 man.

Fortune has a middleweight's shoulders on him, one of the keys to his hod-carrier's strength in the saddle when push came to shove, ram, cajole and refuse to take no for an answer.
