Stoute seeking further international success with Mirage Dancer

Hard on the heels of Expert Eye's Breeders' Cup triumph last weekend, Sir Michael Stoute and owner Khalid Abdullah are eyeing further international glory in Hong Kong next month with Mirage Dancer.

The son of Frankel is entered in two races at Sha Tin on December 9, including the Group 1 Hong Kong Vase, which Stoute last lifted with Daliapour in 2000.

A progressive type, Mirage Dancer won the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood on his penultimate start before losing by a short head when attempting to defy a penalty in the Group 3 Legacy Cup.

Just edged out by subsequent winner Young Rascal at Newbury, Mirage Dancer was pulled out of an intended trip to the Canadian International and subsequently bypassed the Group 1 Qipco Champion Stakes due to soft ground.

Skipping the Ascot fixture did not do his stablemate Expert Eye any harm and the four-year-old should be fresher than most when he lines up in Hong Kong.

Stoute said: "Mirage Dancer is being targeted at Hong Kong where he is entered in two races. He seems in good form for the time of year."

The trainer also reported that Expert Eye had arrived back safely at Freemason Lodge on Tuesday, although there is as yet no decision as to whether the three-year-old will retire to stud or continue racing.
