'Steve who?' was the reaction of many within racing when Steve Harman was announced as chairman of the BHA in 2013.

The circumstances of his exit from that position later this year and his continuing role dealing with government over the levy will ensure his name will not be forgotten for some time to come.

Harman was not widely known in British racing when he became BHA chairman but he was no stranger to the sport, being a keen racegoer and racehorse owner.
