St Leger third Stradivarius in tune for summer Cup campaign

Stradivarius: The Goodwood Cup winner may make his seasonal debut in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot
1 of 1

Stradivarius John Gosden

Gosden hosted a big team of owners on the Al Bahathri at second lot including Bjorn Nielsen owner of the Group 1 Goodwood Cup winner. Frankie Dettori had the chestnut's white face to the fore over a mile and he may reappear in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on May 2, a race the Clarehaven trainer has never won.

Ghaiyyath Charlie Appleby

Frankel's former work rider Shane Fetherstonhaugh looks after and usually rides the Group 3 Autumn Stakes winner but had to switch to lead horse Warburton and make way for William Buick in a mile exercise on Racecourse Side on this occasion. The Dubawi colt finished off his spin, which also included Ispolini (James Doyle), in good fashion and may head for the Group 2 Dante Stakes at York next month.

Killdeer Saeed Bin Suroor

Bin Suroor was making his first appearance of the year on Racecourse Side and had half of the weighing room riding out for him with Gerald Mosse, Oisin Murphy, Hector Crouch and Pat Cosgrave in evidence a little after 5.50am. It was the latter that was seen to best effect on this unraced three-year-old who is a son of Darley stallion New Approach.

Jean Valjean Richard Spencer

Local high class decorator John Blake was just heading into Spencer's new yard at Sefton Lodge as this youngster was working up the Al Bahathri and may well be painting a box to house this son of Bated Breath in the coming weeks. The youngster is named after the lead character in the hit show Les Miserables and is owned by culture buff Phil Cunningham.

Great Work!!! Alwaysandforever Luca Cumani

Hours before saddling his first runner of the year at Kempton, Cumani sent this daughter of Teofilo around the bend on Racecourse Side in company with fellow high class four-year-old God Given (Jamie Spencer) and could well be a good deal better than her win in a maiden at Brighton last September.
