Coventry Stakes winner Rajasinghe is to stay at Group 2 level for his next outing in the Arqana July Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday week.

The son of Choisir provided a first Royal Ascot success for owner Phil Cunningham and trainer Richard Spencer when denying Headway by a head in the six-furlong juvenile colts' highlight last month.

In the aftermath of that victory, Rajasinghe was set to be put by for races such as the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deavuville in August. But the colt has come out of the race in such good shape that connections have had a rethink.

Spencer said: "Rajasinghe is absolutely bouncing after Ascot and the revised plan is to go for the July Stakes. The Morny and other such races are a long way off just yet and the July course is only just down the road.

"I know he'll have a penalty to carry but it's been done before and it will be interesting to see what turns up to take him on. After that we can think about Group 1s and such."

An easy winner on the all-weather on his debut at Newcastle in May, Rajasinghe was cut to 20-1 (from 66) for next year's Qipco 2,000 Guineas after his Ascot triumph which received a boost when the third, Murillo, filled the same placing in the Railway Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.
