Legendary 20-time champion jockey Sir Anthony McCoy will be back in the saddle on Friday when he captains a team in a showjumping competition at the London International Horse Show.

Staged at Olympia in Kensington, the contest is sponsored by insurance firm Markel and is in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund, of which McCoy is president.

McCoy, who retired in 2015, will lead 2016 champion Flat jockey Jim Crowley and top jump riders Nico de Boinville, Harry Skelton and Tom Scudamore.

They will face opposition spearheaded by Bridget Andrews, whose jumps colleagues Bryony Frost and Lizzie Kelly will also be in action, along with Flat aces Josephine Gordon and Nicola Currie.

A crowd of 7,000 is expected to attend the event, which can be followed from 6.40pm on the BBC's red-button platform.

"There is always a fantastic atmosphere and it's great fun to compete in," said McCoy. "I'm looking forward to captaining the team against some strong female competition.

"It also highlights the important work undertaken by the Injured Jockeys Fund within the racing world and across the wider equestrian community."
