Shocked owners open up about loss of retired pride and joy

Two owners of Woolfall Treasure yesterday spoke of their sense of shock and loss after the former Gary Moore-trained grey was killed in a field at his retirement home last week.

Myra McKenna, his owner for the past two years, broke down in tears as she recalled the affection and effort she had lavished on the 11-year-old, who had suffered a tendon injury in his last race in April 2013.

“He had injury issues but I’d nursed him back to full health, he was my passion,” said McKenna, 58, a contract administrator with BT who lives in Orpington, Kent.
