'She was a major eyecatcher on her debut' - last week's tracker horses

With our expert race-readers watching – and writing a descriptive in-running comment for – every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland, there are three different categories used to denote those who are most appealing with the future in mind.

Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.

On their next start, the horses will be flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday.

Non-members can sign up here to get the tracker, race replays and in-depth race analysis, as well as exclusive content from our team of tipsters and writers.

Did well in the circumstances

Taj Neom
Second, Pontefract, October 17

A £20,000 yearling and half-brother to an Italian 5f winner (out of a mile winner), he attracted support and showed ability, despite greenness, in an ordinary event on his debut and the Karl Burke-trained grey should improve.

Third, Kempton, October 18

Has to be considered unlucky due to being whacked at the start, considering he would've got up in another few strides. He has fallen in the handicap and could capitalise before too long.

Second, Doncaster, October 21

Won a division of this race last year and probably should have repeated the feat but was set too much to do. He did well in the circumstances and is one to keep on side.

Second, Dundalk, October 21

This filly was the one to take out of the race on this all-weather debut. She came from a pretty hopeless position and if the race were run differently she may have won.

Third, Chelmsford, October 22

Wasn't beaten far despite failing to settle and after a wide trip from stall 12. He's well treated on his all-weather best and ought to find a similar race.

Eyecatcher

Fourth, Yarmouth, October 18

A 110,000gns yearling, who was weak in the market and showed her inexperience under pressure. There was something to like about the finishing effort and, out of a 1m4f winner, she looks sure to improve sharply for this initial experience.

Fourth, Yarmouth, October 18

Back down from 7f and didn't go unbacked, finishing with purpose from way off the pace. There's obviously a race or two in him and he's entered at Newcastle on Tuesday evening.

Densetsu
Third, Newmarket, October 19

A €9,000 foal who went for 18,000gns as a yearling and is a half-sister to 7f all-weather winner Zabeir. She caught the eye, despite greenness, on her debut and she'll likely improve and win races, especially when granted a stiffer test of stamina.

Second, Newbury, October 22

A sister to a mile winner and showed plenty on her debut, travelling smoothly into the lead before eventually being worn down. She looks a promising sort who should be seen to even better effect next year.

Third, Ffos Las, October 23

Out of an unraced sister to a point-to-point winner, this mare was a major eyecatcher on her debut and may leave this form well behind next time. Nursed into it under considerate handling in the straight, she ran on strongly without her rider ever applying any notable pressure. Unsurprisingly, the ride caught the attention of the stewards, who deemed the mare had been schooled and conditioned on the racecourse, prompting the five-year-old to be banned for 40 days, her rider to be banned for 16 days and her trainer to be fined £3,000.

Promising

Mammas Girl
Won, Newmarket, October 19

A £35,000 yearling and half-sister to ten winners up to 8.6f, she was well supported and created a favourable impression on this racecourse debut. She is a well-regarded sort who should have no problems with a mile and she's the type to hold her own in stronger company.

Phenomenon
Fifth, Newmarket, October 19

Two-year-old colt whose dam was a 5f winner, was weak in the betting on his debut but shaped with a great deal of promise. He came home well without being overly punished and should improve plenty.

Second, Doncaster, October 21

A half-sister to a 9.4f all-weather winner from a good family, she created a good impression on her debut despite a slow start, only losing out narrowly to a more experienced rival. She'll likely be suited by middle distances next season and should win in this company before going up in grade.

Second, Newbury, October 21

A 170,000gns yearling who did by far the best of the many newcomers in the race and looked set to win when taking up the running. However, he soon lugged left under a ride and opened the door to the more experienced winner. Still, this was a promising start in difficult conditions.
