The betting industry's self-appointed watchdog the Senet Group has a new chief executive in George Kidd, who started in the role yesterday.

He takes over from Ron Finlay, who resigned in April having led Senet since it was set up in September 2014.

Formerly with the Cabinet Office and with the Foreign Office as British consul in Chicago, Kidd has an extensive background in regulation and self-regulation, with his roles including having served as chief executive of premium rate service regulator PhonepayPlus and the Online Dating Association, as well as chair of the Direct Marketing Association.
