Scottish got the best of the draw among the European challengers for the Caulfield Cup on Saturday, with the Godolphin gelding set to break from stall seven in the 18-runner field.

Winner of the Strensall Stakes at the Ebor meeting on his last European start this year, Scottish is the most fancied foreign runner in the field and trainer Charlie Appleby was happy with the draw.

"I'm delighted with barrier seven," he said. "It gives Kerrin [McEvoy] plenty of options. If we can get a nice clear run into the race we're hopeful of being very competitive."
