One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday
Trainer
Days don't get more important than this for John Gosden as, while he only has five runners, they are all highly significant ones.
Last year's champion juvenile Too Darn Hot will bid to regain the winning thread in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas (3.35) at the Curragh, while sprinting sensation Calyx prepares for Royal Ascot in the Sandy Lane Stakes (3.25) at Haydock.
That will be a particularly big ten minutes for the trainer, but he also saddles Enbihaar in the Group 3 Bronte Cup Fillies' Stakes (3.05) at York.
Jockey
Former champion jockey Jim Crowley is in action at Haydock, where he has a strong book of rides, including the electric Battaash in the Temple Stakes (4.00), which he won last year.
The speedster is notoriously tricky but explosive at his best and the rider will be hoping he puts his best foot forward on seasonal reappearance following a wind operation.
Crowley's other chances include 2017 Ebor winner Nakeeta (2.15), Esher Cup winner Masaru (2.50) and Heavenly Holly (4.35), who was last seen winning on All-Weather Championship Finals Day.
Horse
There are a number of classy horses in action over the weekend, but fan favourite Gordon Lord Byron deserves a mention whenever he runs and the veteran goes to post in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes (3.00).
Tom Hogan's stable stalwart won the race in 2017 and although he failed to win last season, he still posted some admirable efforts behind Speak In Colours, Expert Eye and Battle Of Jericho.
The multiple Group 1 winner will be making his 97th racecourse appearance on the back of a promising effort at Cork last time and he could spring a surprise.
Race
The clash is on in the Irish 2,000 Guineas (3.35) as Magna Grecia bids to do the Classic double, but he will face his toughest competitor yet in Too Darn Hot.
Nine horses have won both races, with the last being Churchill, who was also trained by Aidan O'Brien, in 2017.
Magna Grecia, who strode clear of King Of Change and Skardu on the Rowley Mile under Donnacha O'Brien, is reunited with Ryan Moore but will face fresh opposition with Phoenix Of Spain making his seasonal reappearance and Decrypt stepping up in class. It looks set to be a thriller.
