Expert eyecatchers: interesting runners identified by Racing Post analysts

Racing Post analysts select an eyecatcher after every meeting and here we highlight a selection of Saturday runners who have been put up as horses to watch.

Sotomayor
2.00 Lingfield

Analyst note: Is weighted to be winning and kept on well after a slow start.

Started slowly over course and distance last time but ran on well in the closing stages to suggest he could have gone closer but for that.

His only win came off a 7lb higher mark in February 2018 and he looks to hold leading claims in this contest.

Salmanazar
2.05 Newbury

Ran well and will be winning soon.

Looked in good form when racing prominently at Sandown last time before a blunder in the closing stages cost him his chance.

He kept on well after that, though, pressing Horatio Hornblower for third, and looks to be ready to win if in the same form.

Saint Leo
2.25 Kelso

Was travelling strongly when he came down and is one to note next time.

Has been keeping good company and was going well at Ayr last time before falling when in contention.

He was well fancied on that occasion and should be in the mix again, albeit in a more competitive contest.

2.35 Lingfield

Looks sure to improve for this initial experience.

Shaped as if possessing real ability on his debut at Chelmsford this month. He showed inexperience and edged left in the closing stages but moved through the field well despite being impeded.

Was not given a hard time and looks to have plenty more to offer.

Sixty's Belle
3.15 Newbury

Showed her first real glimpse of form and should go on from this.

Produced her best performance at Huntingdon last time, jumping neatly for the most part to finish second by two and a quarter lengths.

Still very much finding her feet, but if that last performance is anything to go by she is moving in the right direction.

Tomkevi
3.35 Kelso

Every chance when unlucky unseat at the last.

In spite of a couple of early jumping errors, this eight-year-old progressed in eyecatching style at Southwell this month and looked to have every chance before unseating at the last.

Had won his previous two starts and remains one to keep on the right side.

3.50 Newbury

Has put two runs together now and should have more to come.

Picked up a second win on British soil two starts ago and produced an equally good effort when runner-up at Leicester earlier this month.

The penny seems to have dropped for this six-year-old who can continue that progress despite facing a tougher task here.

Vinnie The Hoddie
4.25 Newbury

Was a good second on his stable debut and can soon go one better.

Made an excellent start to his career with Oliver Sherwood at Doncaster last month. He led for most of the way, jumping smoothly only to be headed late on.

Will face a number of rivals here from well-known yards, but holds strong claims if able to progress again.

Soviet Pimpernel
5.50 Thurles

Showed plenty of ability and should be winning shortly.

Made an excellent debut last time when second behind the well-regarded Sixshooter at Leopardstown this month, travelling noticeably powerfully.

Top amateur Derek O'Connor is booked to ride.
