Sam Twiston-Davies to appeal against £1,000 Politologue parade fine
Sam Twiston-Davies is to appeal against a £1,000 fine he incurred on Wednesday for breaking the Queen Mother Champion Chase parade early, insisting that his mount Politologue was unruly in the preliminaries and was a danger to others.
Twiston-Davies, who finished fourth behind Altior on the Paul Nicholls-trained grey, said on Thursday: "He misbehaved badly down the chute, and as he'd already injured one of the travelling head lads' arms – he's here today with his arm in plaster – I was worried he was going to do the same again.
"Unfortunately, on the video evidence he looked quiet so they fined me £1,000. Luckily lots of jockeys behind us saw what happened, and so I'm definitely going to appeal."
Nicholls' assistant Harry Derham confirmed the injury to box driver Kevin Parker, who has a broken wrist, and described Politologue as "a handful".
He added: "It's a shame that in the build-up to the most important race of a horse's life the parade is considered more important than the horse."
