Sadness as great Newmarket institution goes up in smoke

The Dikler would like to request a moment’s silence for the passing of a great Newmarket institution. Yes, farewell to Sir Mark Prescott’s famous Cuban cigars.

While not condoning smoking, The Dikler has grown accustomed to seeing the master of Heath House with a cigar clasped between his fingers, the smoke enveloping his head as he plots the path to the top for his next winning machine.

However, the 69-year-old trainer has finally decided on a belated health kick and binned the Cubans, no doubt feeling instantly more energetic and hugely proud for ending the unhealthy habit.
