Warrior on warpath for Royal Ascot after July course workout
Redkirk Warrior - David Hayes
Just like many overseas contenders before him, the Diamond Jubilee hope enjoyed the luxury of a pre-Ascot workout on the July course, where he powered out of the dip in a solo exercise under his lad Dara O'Meachair. Appropriately the gallop was witnessed by a visiting group of Australians, to whom Hayes was happy to chat afterwards. The way his charge handled the undulations, it will be no surprise to see the seven-year-old back at the venue for the Group 1 Darley July Cup next month.
Without Parole - John Gosden
Frankie Dettori has long been booked for Redkirk Warrior, and a little later Hayes caught up with him among the Gosden team during further pre-Ascot excitement on the Al Bahathri Polytrack. Aboard the ante-post favourite Without Parole for the Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes, Dettori breezed to the six-furlong pole. He looks to have a number of live bullets from Clarehaven at the five-day bash.
Crystal Ocean - Sir Michael Stoute
Michael Holding's best bet for Royal Ascot is not even trained by Stoute (Dreamfield) but he is expecting his favourite horse Mirage Dancer to run well in the Wolferton Stakes. The cricketing legend did not need his binoculars to witness the Hardwicke Stakes favourite wing up the Al Bahathri for Ryan Moore, but the four-year-old won't be carrying any of his dollars at 7-4.
Desert Encounter- David Simcock
Simcock is scheduled to have around ten runners at next week's royal meeting, including this six-year-old, who will be out to pick up the pieces again in the Group 1 Prince of Wales's Stakes. Jamie Spencer was on board for a final breeze on the watered gallop.
Great work!
National Army - Saeed Bin Suroor
Saeed Bin Suroor was looking trim after the end of Ramadan and his horses on the watered gallop also looked in good shape, including this son of Dubawi who mixed it with good yardstick Top Score over seven furlongs. The three-year-old was doing all his best work at the finish when winning a mile maiden at Doncaster on June 1 and should be suited by the extra quarter-mile of the Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes on Thursday.
