Royal Ascot winner Rajasinghe ruled out of Morny with dirty scope
Royal Ascot winner Rajasinghe will miss his intended first crack at Group 1 level in France on Sunday after a dirty scope ruled him out of the Prix Morny at Deauville.
The juvenile gave trainer Richard Spencer a memorable first triumph at the royal meeting when landing the Coventry Stakes and then narrowly failed to follow up under a penalty when third in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket last month.
Rajasinghe had been a 10-1 chance with Paddy Power for the Morny, but Spencer said on Wednesday: "Unfortunately, Rajasinghe scoped dirty this morning, which rules him out of the Prix Morny, which had been his main summer target.
"If he comes right he could run in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York or beyond that the Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury."
