When Samcro was bursting clear to win the 2018 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham, Ronald Pump was a 103-rated maiden over hurdles who cost just €1,000.

Fast-forward 20 months and Ronald Pump has emerged as one of Samcro's biggest dangers in the Baroneracing.com Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday.

The six-year-old, who will be ridden man-of-the-moment Robbie Power, is just 4-1 with William Hill (with 6-1 available elsewhere) to give trainer Matthew Smith his first Grade 1 victory.
