Robbie Power is among the nominees for RTE's Sports Person of the year award, which will be presented on Saturday during RTE's sports review of 2017.

The programme will be transmitted on RTE 1 television, starting at 9.15pm.

Power has enjoyed a hugely successful year, winning the Irish Gold Cup, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Punchestown Gold Cup on Sizing John, on whom he landed the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown last Sunday.

He also won the Irish Grand National on Our Duke, trained like Sizing John by Jessica Harrington.

The other nominees for the award include world boxing champions Katie Taylor and Ryan Burnett, Galway hurling star Joe Canning, Mayo footballer Andy Moran, rower Paul O'Donovan, Ireland and Munster scrum-half Conor Murray and Ireland soccer international James McClean.

Harrington, meanwhile, has been named the Irish Times Sportswoman of the Year.
