ROA and the Racing Post enhance owners' Jackpot scheme

The Racehorse Owners Association/Racing Post Owners Jackpot, which focuses on British middle- and lower-tier races under both codes, is to be enhanced further in May by the introduction of a Jackpot+ series.

Now in its fourth year, the ROA initiative is aimed at boosting grassroots racing and has been supported by the Racing Post since its inception.

Three meetings have been chosen to host the special promotion for the Flat, for which, in addition to the £2,000 bonus for the owner of each winning horse, there will be £250 towards travel expenses for every qualifying ROA-owned runner in the Jackpot race as well as hospitality.

The Jackpot+ days are to be staged at Ripon (May 12), Goodwood (September 5) and Doncaster (October 27).

The Jackpot scheme has paid out more than £300,000 to ROA members to date and every week one race – which must have a minimum prize fund of £5,000 – has a £2,000 bonus attached to it.

"We are now delighted to enhance the Racing Post-supported scheme even further, with the introduction of Jackpot+ days each quarter, offering travelling expenses and hospitality.”
