Richard Johnson and Welsh rugby stars part of Chepstow's live Instagram show

Racing returns in Wales on Monday with a nine-race card at Chepstow, and the racecourse is celebrating being back in action with a special Instagram Live broadcast throughout racing.

Broadcast live from 4.45, ten minutes before the start time of the first race, host Ed Nicholson will be joined by leading figures within racing and also rugby.

Champion jockey Richard Johnson (5.25) and trainer Richard Hannon (7.25) are part of the line-up along with Welsh internationals George North (4.55), Jonathan Davies (7.55) and Josh Navidi (6.25).

Those watching on Instagram will have the opportunity to quiz the guests in real time, and Chepstow's Instagram account is @chepstowracecourse.

Phil Bell, executive director for Chepstow and Ffos Las, said: "This is an exciting new initiative for horseracing in what are challenging times for all sports. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, racing was working hard to attract new racegoers and it's obvious we will need to be extremely pro-active and innovative in the future.

"Engaging with a new audience via Instagram and our guest celebrities is just one promotional idea we are currently working on at Chepstow and Ffos Las."
