Monday: Wetherby

There's no time to feel sorry for yourself. After a 7.30am scan ruled potential star My Drogo out for the season, Dan Skelton headed up to Wetherby where he saddled a treble, all ridden by brother Harry.

"You've just got to keep the ball rolling," said the trainer, whose Eclair D'Ainay came good in the two-mile William Hill Castleford Handicap Chase in the colours of John Hales.

"He raced here in October and looked like he was going to win and he just didn't stay. Last time at Newbury he went away from the start and slipped and he could never get going.

"These are his perfect conditions. He'll go to Lingfield for the valuable meeting in January now, there's a £50,000 two-mile race for him," added Skelton, whose Midnight River took the novice handicap chase and Grey Dawning the bumper.

Harbour a star

Harbour Lake earned a 33-1 quote for the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle from William Hill after carrying the late Trevor Hemmings' colours to a second win in the novice hurdle.

But racing manager Mick Meagher stressed the 8-13 favourite's inexperience and said: "He's still raw. Two runs are all he's ever had and he's won them both. To win 11 lengths and look like he might be beaten jumping the second-last is a fair old performance."

Jockey Brian Hughes added: "He's a typical big, fine Trevor Hemmings horse. Whether or not he wants the ground that soft, I'm not sure, but he has to run on it to get experience."

Hughes also landed the juvenile hurdle on Kayfast Warrior to follow Sunday's treble with a double, while Rebecca Menzies made it four winners in two days as You Some Boy won the conditional jockeys' hurdle.
