Three-time Group 3 winner Young Rascal got his career back on track in style as he lengthened nicely away from Loxley to land the the 1m4f Listed Floodlit Stakes at Kempton.

Following a couple of below-par efforts earlier this year the decision was taken by trainer William Haggas to have the four-year-old gelded over the summer and this effort proved to be evidence the surgery has had the desired effect.

Rider Tom Marquand told Racing TV: “He stayed really well and luckily there was a bit of an injection of pace out of the back straight which helped me out. He is clearly a really nice horse and hopefully there are bigger and better days ahead for him.”
