It is 25 years since Tim Easterby won the Queen Mary for Terry Holdcroft but they are both still going strong and may have another decent two-year-old filly on their hands.

Whether or not Argentine Tango can emulate Romantic Myth, who carried the owner-breeder's colours to victory at Royal Ascot in 2000, remains to be seen, but the 11-4 shot is set for a step up to Listed company after battling to hold off evens favourite Star Material by half a length under David Allan in the 5f maiden.

"She's as hard as nails and was very hard to break in," Easterby said. "But she'll improve masses. When the other horse came to her she went again. We might take her to York for the Marygate Stakes."

"You like York, don't you?" said Holdcroft, to which the trainer responded: "I like good fillies that try hard and she does. They have to be sound and try there. If it's quick ground it won't bother her."

Easterby also took the mile handicap with Leadenhall and the 6f handicap with Mister Sox.

England thriving

Sam England is more than halfway towards last year's personal best seasonal tally of 14 Flat winners after It's A Love Thing gave his trainer an eighth success of 2025 in the 1m2f handicap.

The 9-4 favourite has contributed three of those victories and England said: "He's a lovely little horse, as tough as teak.

"He bled a couple of times and had a couple of wind ops and we couldn't get to the bottom of it, but it seems to have sorted itself out and he's flying along."
