Winters entitled to dream big after Grade 3 romp for exciting mare Sayce Gold
Sayce Gold continued her impressive rise through the novice hurdling ranks with a dominant victory in the Grade 3 Kerry Group Stayers Novice Hurdle, providing jockey Darragh O'Keeffe with a first Graded win aboard the exciting mare.
Trainer Mick Winters has continuously stressed that the Trevor Hemmings-owned seven-year-old's future lies over fences, but another runaway victory at Cork on Sunday suggested connections could be set to have plenty of fun with her over hurdles and are entitled to step up in class again.
"She learned a bit as she didn't have to do it all in front. I think two and a half miles is perfect for her and soft ground is a help. I have no idea what the plans are – I'll leave that to Mick Meagher [Hemmings' racing manager]."
