William Knight enjoys a winner with first Wetherby runner who will ‘keep improving through the year’

William Knight expects Bintabuha to keep improving through the season following her first success in the 1m2f fillies' handicap.
The Salhia Stud-owned three-year-old was a 140,000gns purchase at the Tattersalls Book 1 sale in 2023 and showed plenty of promise at two, including when third to 1,000 Guineas favourite Desert Flower on Newmarket’s July course.
Bintabuha finished last of five on her reappearance at Southwell this month but bounced back to form with a length-and-a-half win under Cieren Fallon.
The Newmarket-based Knight, who was saddling his first runner at Wetherby, said: “We’ve always liked her and she had good form last year. Weakness told on her towards the end of last year and she needed her return at Southwell.
“This galloping track on turf suited her ideally and she’ll stay a mile and a half. I’m pretty hopeful she will keep improving through the year.”
Fallon completed a double aboard the William Haggas-trained Arabian Force, who won the mile novice by a short head on his second start.
Profit delivers
Profit Refused made a successful debut for Ollie Sangster when justifying favouritism in the feature 7f fillies’ handicap.
The Pompey Ventures-owned four-year-old dominated the race under Jamie Spencer and repelled the challenge of Diamont Katie to win by three quarters of a length.
Darragh doubles up
Racing prominently proved key on the card and Darragh Keenan used such tactics for his two winners aboard the Michael Keady-trained Northcliff in the 5½f handicap and the George Scott-trained Zappata in the mile three-year-old handicap.
