Wareeth produced a striking debut performance to win the mile novice by 14 lengths under Hollie Doyle.

Purchased for 510,000gns at Tattersalls October Book 1 in 2024, Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum sent his Sea The Stars colt into training with Archie Watson, but he did not race as a juvenile.

Lining up in the mile novice, the three-year-old was vying for favouritism with Godolphin’s Starglow, with the latter going off the evens favourite, leaving Doyle’s mount as the 5-4 second favourite.

Starglow, who was beaten as a 2-9 favourite on his debut last month, was pulled up by Billy Loughnane a furlong into the race, which lessened the depth of opposition Wareeth faced.

Nonetheless, for a debutant, the three-year-old broke smartly and was settled towards the front of the field, just behind the leader Showcasing Star. Doyle had to encourage her mount with three furlongs to run before he moved into a clear lead with two to go and quickened impressively, bounding clear for a sparkling debut success.

The winning jockey told Sky Sports Racing: “We haven’t had many by Sea The Stars, but for him to do it in that fashion on debut I was pretty impressed. We’ve always liked him a lot. He’s a typical Sea The Stars – quite workmanlike at home – and we thought he’d run well, but to do it like that was a big surprise.

“He was very green going to post and it was important to get him out today before we step him on to turf so he can learn plenty. I like the way he knuckled down and hit the line hard as he was lonely up there. He’s always been quite raw and immature, so to have been so professional on debut was nice.

“I think that’s his minimum trip. I’m not sure what Archie has planned, but we needed to get over this hurdle today to see what we’re going to do going forward.”
