Well-backed Lucky Violet stops off for east coast win on way to Ayr next week

Lucky by name, lucky by nature. That is Lucky Violet as the fates conspired to turn her trainer Linda Perratt's head and send the filly east rather than west to land a tidy gamble.

Perratt, who had been looking at the Ayr Western meeting on the other side of Scotland next weekend, explained: "I saw this had cut up to six runners so said to the owners we should run as she wasn't certain to get into the Ayr race next Thursday – but now with a penalty she will!

"I think she'll go to Ayr depending how the ground is next week."
