'We want to bash in as many winners as we can' - Morgan half way to record tally
Thursday: Stratford
Laura Morgan is aiming for an even better campaignthat the last one as Tardree returned to winning ways in the 2m6f novice hurdle.
The eight-year-old cruised to a 16-length victory, finishing clear of Tiger Orchid in the three-runner race.
Tardree was the 17th winner of the campaign for Morgan and the Leicestershire trainer is keen on surpassing last season's best tally of 34.
"I want to keep upping the quality each year and driving forward so we can bash in as many winners as we can," she said.
"Hopefully, we’re going the right way and attracting some new owners because we have some lovely horses."
Tardree was making his first start since falling in the summer plate at Market Rasen last month.
"I am gutted he fell as he was jumping really well. I’m not saying he would’ve won, but who knows," said Morgan.
"You have to take it on the chin as we’re such a small yard and it was great to have one in the race.
"He wouldn’t be the easiest to train at home as he goes out on his own and does things his own way. You could almost over train him, but he cost us £16,000 and he’s barely been out of the prize-money."
Landmark approaching
Fergal O’Brien edged closer to the half-century mark for the season as he bookended the card with a double.
Eagle's Realm justified favouritism in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle, before Leave Her To Me struck in the final race to bring O’Brien’s tally to 48.
Consistent winner
La Domaniale secured her third win of the season when claiming the feature 2m3½f handicap chase for trainer Jonjo O’Neill.
