'We made a plan and it worked' - David Allan emulates Dettori's superb Ebor ride
Friday: Thirsk
David Allan produced a brilliant replication of Frankie Dettori's winning Ebor ride on Trawlerman to land the mile handicap on Bungley.
Just like the winner of last Saturday's £500,000 handicap, Bungley was kept wide and clear of the rest in the early part of the race before Allan switched her across towards the rail approaching the turn.
The Tim Easterby-trained filly momentarily looked vulnerable as Do I Dream appeared to be closing but the three-year-old found more to win by half a length.
It was her second win in a row and Easterby said: "She's a front-runner, so we just thought we'd let her roll along on the outside. We thought she'd be better in her own company; it was a great ride.
"Leading her down to the start has helped too but David Allan and Rory Bevin [assistant trainer] made the plan to go wide and it's worked out."
The success was a change of fortune for Easterby and Allan, who lost by a short-head in the 6f handicap with Music Society.
Excellent run
The good form of the Sir Mark Prescott stable continued with Rose Of Ithaca landing the mile fillies' novice stakes on just her second start.
Cheveley Park's two-year-old held off Anjo Bonita by a neck, giving Prescott a sixth winner from 15 runners in the last fortnight, including the Group 1 success of Alpinista in the Yorkshire Oaks last Friday.
First winner
Amateur jockey Elle Paterson needed only two rides to get off the mark in her career when Secret Equity gave her the milestone success in the 6f handicap.
